MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, November 17, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Online resource whatishealthandsafety.co.uk has encouraged homeowners to invest in snow shovels and grit spreaders in time for the nippy spell. The website has warned against the dangers of winter and has asked families to stock up on essentials.
The site's campaign follows a number of freezing winters that have left everyone feeling cold, wet and miserable. Another Big Freeze could strike at any time, so people have been urged to shop for winter products before it's too late.
Matt Hornsby, a spokesman for the health and safety blog: What is health and Safety said: "The cold weather often takes people by surprise and therefore it's wise to be prepared. The first flurry of snow might look beautiful but it's no fun if your car is stuck on the drive."
He added, "There's nothing worse than being stranded at home, so it's a good idea to splash out on winter-busting products. De-icing salt works wonders on the driveway and a snow shovels are a must. The white stuff is great for sledging but you really don't want to be digging your vehicle out of the snow with your bare hands."
The online resource has also pushed for families to winter-proof their homes by sealing drafts and fixing windows. Hornsby surmised that it's awful to be cold inside and encouraged people to test their heating. He said a cold winter's day can be very pretty but it's nice to be warm indoors.
What is Health and Safety blog also wrapped things up by reminding people to stay safe at work. He said "it's not a bad idea to throw a snow shovel in the boot of your car, just in case you get stranded. Snow can fall at any time, so why not be prepared."
