Dianne Benson Recognized as One of the Most Noted Gardeners in the Hamptons by The Wall Street Journal
Dianne Benson is the founder of The Best @ Dianne B, "Only what you really need to garden with style."

EAST HAMPTON, NY, July 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dianne Benson, Author and Founder of The Best @ Dianne B, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, innovation, leadership and excellence in gardening and design.

Motivated by her twin love of fashion and gardening, Dianne Benson established The Best @ Dianne B, a web-based business that offers highly selective gardening supplies and accessories, made specifically for her special gardening audience. Grouped with Hermes and Le Prince Jardinier in Interiors Magazine and touted in Town & Country and House Beautiful, the products and the accompanying newsletter, DIRTIER, have gained a significant following. Having originally begun her career as a fashion designer, Dianne's passion for gardening was peaked when she moved into her first East Hampton residence over 20 years ago. She recalls a weedy, woody mess surrounding the house that screamed for attention. Pouring her efforts into her garden, Dianne transformed the acre into a shady, exotic garden stamped in a particular exoticism. She went on to document the garden's transformation in "DIRT: The Lowdown on Growing a Garden with Style." The book has become a cult classic. An active writer, she contributes to several garden journals and is deep into her next book, "DIRTIER: A PASSIONATE GARDENER'S CONTINUING TALE."

Dianne enjoyed a very fruitful career in fashion prior to establishing The Best @ Dianne B. She was the owner of Dianne B. stores as well as the first Comme des Garcons USA. She was the first designer to promote some of today's most renowned design artists including Issey Miyake and lean Paul Gaultier. Her work was profiled in The New York Times Magazine and featured her collaborations with prominent artists Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Hujar and Cindy Sherman.

A graduate of Towson University, Dianne holds a bachelor of arts in theatre and English. She is the Co-¬President of LongHouse Reserve, a 16 acre public sculpture park and arboretum, and is a founding member of the Board of Robert Wilson's arts foundation, The Watermill Center. Her other affiliations include The Ladies Village Improvement Society of East Hampton, the Guild Hall of East Hampton and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
